It doesn't need Flash at all.

Steve's got it right. Before Adobe Flash there was and still is a standard called SVG (scalable vector graphics). This OPEN standard defined by the W3C defines a ubiquitous open platform specification for everything GUI related and more.

SVG is supported on mobile phones today from Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, and Sony-Ericsson.

The latest O/S from MSFT, VISTA, utilizes SVG as it's front end as a GUI.

The Web is not just about Flash, it about the overall experience.

I praise Steve for holding his ground and protecting the investment he has made into the iPhone and ultimately putting the User Experience foremost the most important element to date.

Although SVG is also not supported on the iPhone, I wouldn't be surprised if Steve adopts the W3C standard in an upcoming software release. Give the iPhone time to mature like a fine wine.

Apple's inefficiency,

Toady with lots of eagerness I signed up for the apple's developer program and I recieved an email to download the SDK.When I click the link it doesn't find the page itself. Google and MS will have a last laugh on Apple's inefficency of not providing the right support for developers on the day one of thier launch.
